TRICYCLE

elisa sowell

As kids we learn how to crawl before we walk, how to ride on three wheels before we hope onto two. This installation’s purpose is to remind adults and kids of the importance of the process we undertake to get to where we want to be as we graduate from one step to the other. The folly's intent is to awaken the memories of the adult community on how they felt riding their own at a young age while sitting side-by-side to their children showing them how they were once in their shoes and where they can be in the future.

They tricycle represents a metaphor of community build work where the people sitting on it are the community members, the tricycle itself is the vehicle and means which they use to achieve their goal and the people behind it pushing it are the community leaders and professionals that help them reach their goals.
