THE LOW LINE
CLEMSON SoA + CDC.C
Located underneath the I-26 Overpass, the Low-Line is a proposed linear park meant to reconnect two divided neighborhoods. An existing paved maintenance path has become a bustling bike path to avoid car heavy streets, while the communities around it have created a desire paths criss-crossing the underutilized space. Several paved slabs have been converted by the community members from parking areas into makeshift skate parks and outdoor church gatherings.

Numerous art exhibitions have been held in the Low-Line by non-profits such as Enough Pie, and Charleston Moves. The architectural follies created by Clemson’s Community Build Program and CBA participants will soon find a home along the path to renew interest in the site and draw attention to modes of transportation beyond cars.
